Chiddy Bang · Guinness Flow

Holding the world record for longest flow

Of course we had to hear some cuts from Chiddy’s Guinness World Record for the longest freestyle rap, coming in at 9 hours, 18 minutes & 22 seconds. I kept up with it for the last half and there were definitely many of those Chiddy witty one liners. Someone should make a damn story out of all those rhymes! ;)

It’s good to see that Chiddy Bang is swellin’ to Status. Can’t wait to hear what’ll be on Peanut Butter & Swelly, which releases this Friday (the 27th) – especially what Xaphoon has in store for us!

Soldier of Luchini (Dirty Disco Kidz Mashup)

Camp Lo vs. Rusko vs. The Temper Trap

I love my mashups like I love my Midwest musicians… together? Whatever, this is one mad mashup.

Mr Physix takes two tracks, Rusko’s “Soldier On Remix” (The Temper Trap) & Camp Lo’s “Luchini” and does what mashups do best, takes the best of two tracks and crafts them together into one glorious sound.

Glowing in the Darkest Night by Pretty Lights

"What makes the mothafucker so damn fresh."

I dunno if Pretty Lights could ever top Filling Up the City Skies, but this sure is sneaking up on it.

Glowing in the Darkest Night brings on some newly crafted tunes by our favorite hip-hop/electronic fused producer, Derek Vincent Smith.

The one thing the album’s missing is something substantially new from Smith. This may be the best release of his this year, but I know he would do well at experimenting with new [...]

More Chiddy Bang Mania!

Happiness is a warm gun livin' fully loaded.

I’ve been posting waayyy too much Chiddy Bang over the past month. I feel like I’ve dedicated a blog to them… hint, hint (it’s in the works). But they are too damn good to pass up. With their EP, The Preview, just around the corner, Chiddy’s droppin’ some fine remixes to get the word out.

Their remix of New Zealand’s chart topping “Young Blood”, originally by The Naked & Famous, goes so damn well with Chiddy’s style, especially with Alisa Xayalith’s backup vocals. They also did a cover of Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy” for Billboard.com‘s mashup monday – take a look at it below.

I also had to include one last track from their EP that’s droppin’ this next Tuesday (support that shit!). “Bad Day” is [...]

The Preview by Chiddy Bang

Workin' wonders with Logic 'n' Reason.

When I posted “The Good Life” a couple days back, I wasn’t expecting to listen to The Preview just a few days later. I had no idea at the time that the Australian release was set for October 1.

Last night a buddy of mine from New Zealand hooked me up with a link. I thought he was fucking with me at first, but after sampling the tracks I figured it was legit. The album’s been on repeat since and of course I have mixed reviews (always happens with new albums).

To The Preview and Chiddy Bang’s credit, these guys have come out with two stellar tracks in the past few month “Pass Out” & “The Good Life”, not to mention [...]

The Good Life by Chiddy Bang

"Swelly, swelly, Swelly, swelly, Swelly, swelly, Swelly"

With The Preview right around the corner, I decided to post a preview of The Preview.

Chiddy Bang’s first single off their upcoming EP dropped just over two weeks ago. I’ve had some time with the “The Good Life” and it’s definitely a good show at what’s to come.

I really think Chiddy Bang has serious potential at making it big. First off, they are signed under Parlophone Records, which houses some great acts, including Gorillaz, Radiohead and The Chemical Brothers, just to name a few. Second, the duo has the character and personality to hook a wide audience. So much hip-hop today lacks character/personality, and with Chiddy Bang’s cunning play on words and finely laid out beats, I expect these two to [...]

Wolfgang’s 5th Symphony by Wolfgang Gartner

Mozart raving on MDMA.

This dude totally stole my idea!… and just about a few million others. I’ve always wanted to remix classic works. But it’s all about pulling it off, something I haven’t done… yet, and Wolfgang Gartner has done just that. Throughout the piece I get a little lost at times, but I quickly catch up – he seems to stray from the original a little too much for my liking.

Bassnectar introduced me to this dubstep, electro, house-type music. I’m really starting to dig the glitchy reverberations that I’ve never really heard before. I’m still fairly new to the genre/various sub-genres, but it sure makes for good workout music.

Anyone got some suggestions on good workout music?

Pass Out (Chiddy Bang Freestyle) by Chiddy Bang

The best UK hip-hop that's not from the UK.

We just had our one year anniversary on the 3rd, so we decided to take a trip to Chicago and check out the North Coast festival. We’ll cover the festivities in the next post, but first we wanted to talk about the theme song for that week.

Chiddy Bang wasn’t at the festival, but I finally got my hands on their mixtape, Air Swell. The mixtape was put together to promote themselves throughout the UK. It contains samples of famous UK musicians and at first I thought they were based outta the UK until I found out the EP is just based on the UK.

The first track I had to check out was a remix of “Stylo” by Gorillaz, but wasn’t all that impressed after listening to it. However, I did find a song that blew me away [...]
