A Symbiosis Gathering

It's almost completely perfect, except one thing

Doing some digging on the Symbiosis website and social, I noticed that Madelyn Grant had liked their Facebook page – she’s featured on Emancipator’s latest single, Seven Seas. So instantly I thought, Madelyn might be there too! I asked her, she’s not :(

She’s one of the main reasons I keep this thing around, so I gotta at least try to get her out here and play live with Emancipator at Symbiosis. I think it would be their first time playing live together, at least I’m pretty sure it would be. And who cares! She needs to be there!

So what do we gotta do to make this happen? Mind you, I’m well unaware of the logistics of getting her out here. Or if she’s even available. And I’m probably just being selfish and no one wants it that bad. But they should! And I have to try and so do you if you feel so inclined.

Feel inclined!

2013’s Best Electrosoul

Relaxing with the loved one

Electronic is overtaking the industry and has done the same on this blog more & more each year. Our list of electronic music is so massive this year we split it in two.

First up is our best electro soul of 2013 that ranges from funk & jazz to R&B & dubstep (melodic dubstep). We weren’t sure if we wanted to include the remixes from our last list, 2013’s Top Remixes, but there is just as much soul in the remixes as any of the originals. Make sure to play through all 25, it’s got a good ebb and flow to it.

Also, stay tuned for our next list in electro: electronic dance music – and not that bullshit shit.

Melodic Dubstep

the chill side of bass music

Melodic dubstep may sound like an oxymoron at first, but it is for sure the best of its kind. It’s the kind of music that will take you out of your element, away from your own personal shit show – kinda like most music, but better. I would go as far to say it carries you to heights higher than our own beats to blaze to. So get out your best speakers, preferably headphones, and take a step away for a minute with some bass in mind.

Know Good Indie Labels, 2013

12 independent record labels with a well imagined roster

Independent record labels are sprouting up all over the place in location & style. And the ones that are doing it right not only have a choice selection in catalogue, but also take the time to artfully craft their image as they do their artists.

Each of these 12 labels sport some of the most well respected producers & musicians that belong on this blog and create a culture with style around their music. On here I may point out a few that lack in proper online presence, but they are all doing it right when it comes to the perception of this era’s evolution in music labels.

Minnesota · Bloom

Melodic bass, best music to relax to

Minnesota’s ‘Bloom’ has finally convinced me to post my melodic dubstep mixtape and actually gave me the idea for a more appropriate name, melodic bass, although it’s all just words by now. So look out for that in the next coming weeks, but until then check out why Bloom has inspired me so much. Like I already hinted at, it’s got one catchy melody supported by a beautiful bass line.

Kraddy · Forbidden (Minnesota Remix)

Couldn't ask for a better man to remix a better song

I don’t know if I can stray away from the original just yet, but I couldn’t deny myself a Minnesota remix of my favorite Kraddy track. Minnesota does his usual blissful synths coupled with hypnotizing bass buzzers, which plays wells with Erica Dee’s sultry vocals. Couldn’t ask for a better man to remix a better song! <3 View Full Article »

Best Music of 2011 (Part 5) : Electronica

with a dash of dubstep sprinkled on because we love that bass face

Other than the Mixes & Mashes, 2011 was the year of Electro Music here on SNG. It all started out through our transition with hip-hop. I remember thinking to myself that we needed more uptempo, dance type music. A year later and the majority of the site is just that. As much as we need to hop back on the hip-hop wagon, this electro ride has been one of our favorites!

Best Music of 2011 (Part 3) : Dubstep Remixes

The year that gorgeous vocals got turned onto that wobble

Dubstep remixes were dominated by b.e.a.utiful vocals this year…. Or maybe it’s just I’m obsessed with these beauts mixed with dirty, dirtay dubstep. Either way, this style has ruled SNG for the last half of the year and hope it rules for many months into next.

Shotgun Radio – A Bad Place (Minnesota Remix)

Featuring the gorgeous vocals of Mimi Page

Minnesota’s remix of “A Bad Place”, originally by Shotgun Radio, is more deep covered bass with ever higher synths from MN Can’t say it’s my favorite remix of his, it’s tough competition, but I’m not one to resist gorgeous vocals – <3 Mimi Page - mixed in with some FUTURE BASS.

This’ll be released on Simplify Records in god knows when, so take it in “hear” until then.

SoundKlout 9 : Minnesota

The future of Bass Music

Going through Minnesota’s dubstep music, you start to see the progress in his work over the last year. His latest EP, Ancient Machines, puts Minnesota’s music on a whole ‘nother level. It kind of reminds me The Beatles, their first few hits were catchy, but it’s only ’til their later work does a whole new style of music emerge. I’m not saying he’s doing for dubstep what The Beatles did for rock, but he’s well on his way.
