Minnesota ·· Ancient Machines

'cause even Bass Music needs some catch.

Ancient Machines has something seldom seen in dubstep, a catchy melody. As far as bass music goes, it’s right after having a killer drop, but isn’t all that focused on, at least from what I’ve heard. Minnesota, however, has kept up his melodic tunes in his latest release, Ancient Machines, with three tracks that got a catch with a little finesse – especially “Breathe”.. but best drop goes to “Hold Up”.

So hit up the SoundCloud player below and buy ’em if ya like ’em (fair asking price too).

Minnesota · Sun Burst

with a possible EP on the way.

Not enough dubstep touches on the highs, but thankfully Minnesota provides us with just that. “Sun Burst” is a bass driven set with what sounds like bowl hitting bumps along the way. My favorite thang, however, goes to those electro-guitar sounding licks that play throughout – they complement the bass so well.

Side note, Minnesota put up cover art for something soon to come on his Facebook (also pictured above), Ancient Machines – anyone know what that is EP possibly

DeathStar ·· Ultraviolet Halo

MartyParty & Minnesota go Future Bass

DeathStar consists of the two electro-talents, MartyParty & Minnesota. Their first hit, remixing Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”, was featured on our Rompin Remixes of “Rolling in the Deep” compilation and started the mood off right with their Future Bass sound. Now the two have put out a new Ep, ULTRAVIOLET HALO, which brings a few classics forward and continues that futuristic shyt.

Most notable of the tracks, DeathStar remixes Wiz Khalifia’s “On My Level”. Not really a Khalifia fan, but damn is this hypnotizing, plus there’s a few dirty electro-bursts to boot. But as good as it is, the top pick goes to “Funk Soul” with fat drops from the Slimboy […]

Ellie Goulding · Starry Eyed (Minnesota Remix)

Take the highs with the lows...

This definitely would’ve made my Ellie Goulding Dubstep Remix Compilation if it came out about three months earlier, but like the other “Starry Eyed” dubstep remix by Jawkob, both falter at the drop. Minnesota’s “drops” may have been better executed than Jakwob’s, but it’s still nothing compared to the top two on the list. Even worse, his distortion of Ellie’s voice is unneeded and not properly pulled off.

However, he still brings a heavy dose of dubstep for the dubstep queen, Ellie Goulding. I especially loved his use of higher pitched tones […]

“Rolling in the Deep” Rompin’ Remixes

Now we're gettin' Adele deep, down & dirty in DUBSTEP

About three months back I thought about compiling a list of “Rolling in the Deep” remixes, mashups & covers. However, pickings were slim at the time, so I held off. Now that I’ve come back to it, there are so many producers who’ve chopped and edited “Rolling in the Deep” that I’ve had to focus on one style – Rompers! Most of these are dubstep, but I’ve found some House and a few other ragers.

If you’re not familiar with dubstep, you’re probably not going to like these (and I do understand). But if ya love ‘steppin just as much as I, get ready for some coiling goodnass(ty). There’s just about a dozen remixes for you to get lean to, so let’s get this party started!

On to the RAGERS »
