Kid Cudi posted on his Tumblr blog, Cud Life, that he was quitting weed for good (check it out after the jump). But I think it’s safe to assume this is some practical joke for April Fools. First off, the message is absolutely half baked (haha). If someone like Cudi was actually quitting weed, I doubt he would mouth off about it. And two, of all days he had to pick today. Give me a break, I’d almost say I could see Snoop Dogg quitting before Cudi. But what’d y’all think
In other Cudi news, he’s released a new track titled “Capcom”. A few reports say this may be the first off his upcoming mixtape, A Man Named Scott, but they aren’t that good of reports. Whatever the case may be, it’s Cudi and we all know y’all are gonna eat it up!

What makes this so ‘cool headed’ isn’t just the melodramatic wizard, Kid Cudi, but also Travis Barker’s sedated beat. I swear everything Cudi touches turns to gold, but in this I gotta give props to Barker.
In each track I’ve heard so far off his upcoming mixtape, Give the Drummer Some, Barker somehow crafts a beat that fits the featured performer well, damn well. Whether it’s Kid Cudi or Lupe Fiasco & Pharrell Williams, Barker takes their rap to a new level – or at least in a new flavor.
The mixtape is set to release on the 15th. Can’t wait to hear it in full.
[audio:Cool-Head.mp3|titles=Cool Head]I first heard the live version of “You Can Run” from This Bonus Track a couple days back and just picked this one up today. The difference between the two is mostly in quality, but Cudi’s contribution also changes up.
In this version, Cudi lays a bit more polished lines down and not to discredit Greenberg, but makes the track. I’ve seen the sentimental side of Cudi before, but I never knew that acoustics would flow so well with his rhymes […]
[audio:You-Can-Run.mp3|titles=You Can Run]It’s not his drummer boy flow. Or his dark persona. It’s not the puns, pot, press or any of it. What Cudi brings is himself.
When you create something, you create it for yourself. You share it with the world and should expect nothing back.
Welcome to the manic depressive world of Scott Mescudi. Get caught up in his highs and lows. […]

Not only does she accompany Cudi on two tracks, but the two bring out a more sophisticated side of his music. He may be known for his introspection, but it seems to be sprinkled with a little less keef for these two tracks, unlike the rest of the album.
Check ’em out and give some thoughts on how you think the duo stacks up.
“So much whiskey all in my liver. I really like the punch it delivers, makes me warm when I high five sinners.”

With all these tracks Kanye is pushing out and his G.O.O.D. music label growing, the man’s becoming a multi-purpose music machine rather than just a top charting hip-hop artist. But unlike Diddy, KanYe is enlisting some of the best acts in hip-hop.
If you take a look at the two’s recently released tracks – KanYe’s “Christian Dior Denim Flow” & Diddy’s “Another One” – you see where hip-hop is growing apart and evolving (at least in some areas). It’s not really about how the beat’s evolving or even the lyrics. That may have a part in it, but it’s mainly how the culture is progressing. For too long hip-hop’s been about […]

I haven’t heard Common in a while, but damn do I miss that smooth flow of his. I don’t know how KanYe does it, but he gets the best of the best (and the worst of the worst). I guess it’s just because he’s KanYe “mother fuckin'” West (for better or worse).
Minus the theatrics, he always shows us some talent, most recently with this “Good Friday” feature. CuDi features on the track with some back up vocals – I’m liking his recent stuff even more than KanYe’s. Common, like I mentioned above, was most impressive with lyrics that reminded me of a Pharcyde quote I remember from back in the day […]
What’d you think of the rest of the featured artists – Pusha T, Big Sean & Charlie Wilson

Lissie is one pretty young thing (love you MJ) that packs some power. In her live performance at the Great Escape this last May, Lissie performs “Pursuit of Happiness” by KiD CuDi, or I should say outperforms. They’re only a handful of covers that I like better than the original. Along with Lissie, the instrumentals – especially Eric Sullivan’s guitar solo – make this song addicting as hell… which may, ironically, be it’s one downfall – it’s been stuck in my head for the last couple of weeks.
Make sure to check out the video of her performance in the full article. It really captures the passion she has for singing.
