The first time I ran into Madelyn Grant’s name was on Odesza’s Sun Models. I had recently uploaded the track to SoundCloud and she had contacted me about including her name in the title. The only reason I hadn’t in the first place was because they really chopped and skewed her vocals, making her voice barely recognizable. But she was real nice about it and it seemed more than fair.
About two months later and I see Madelyn Grant on FKJ’s Waiting. I didn’t remember she was on Odesza’s track at first, but once I did I was all the more in love. Madelyn has a breathtaking voice, but even better she knows how to use it – a much bigger problem with most vocalists.
Since then Madelyn has collaborated with a favorite of mine, Emancipator. I asked her how she got to collaborate with all these legitimate producers and she said, I sent them my demos.
That’s it. In Odesza’s case they were requesting female vocalists, but the other two she just sent them a sample. That’s all it took. How the fuck does that happen? Oh wait, that doesn’t. Minus with Madelyn.

I’ve put together a playlist of my favorite songs of her’s as well as another list for producers she should also send her music to. Although, this time I think they should be doing the reaching out.
Relax in the House is even chiller to dance to than our Horizontal Disco list, but both can also be used for relaxing too. This however lays off the lyricists and goes for deep, melodic, four on the floor kind of music with short vocal cuts.
If you don’t like house though, I’m not sure you’ll want to chill in your house with this.
I was talking to my coworkers about the music in my Late Night Jazz list. While it’s definitely not the music of the early turn of last century, it still gives me that feeling of jazz for the evening, unconventional as it may be. It’s all covered in electronic sounds and that’s where our opinions stray.
Same goes with our funk-infused playlist, The Funk Shall Be Within You. It may go off into electro at times, but the feeling of funk is strong throughout and I don’t think any word could describe it better, especially electronic. Other than nufunk or any other made up offshoot, but that’s a whole other debate.
This is mostly tropical house music, but since the term has gone to shit since we put out our first trop house list, we simplified it with a little shout out to Cali.
I love high hats especially with something sexy wrapped around em. I first found this off beat, soulful shit in our vapor lists, but unlike that this is much more hip hop based and much sexier.
We get into some future glam towards the middle and end it a little lighter with my favorite hip hop out right now. So stick til the end.
We’ve had two deep house lists so far, one two, but this one got too big so we split it in two.
First half is on the lighter side of deep house. Most the music deals in Love and the shit parts of it. Reminds me a lot of our Horizontal Disco playlist, but a little deeper with the house.
The other half is on a much heavier side of bass that’s a bit better for dancing. Late night raging that is. Both are good for dancing, depending on your mood.

Last year we had five playlists highlighting our favorite remixes called, Remixed Right, but we decided this year to split them into themes. First up comes our chill hip hop remixes.
This is purely mainstream hits remixed. 50/50 on good rap vs not so good, but the remixes do their job. Making shit sound good (to relax to).
Another style of house we made up. I freakin’ love lasers! I first remember it in ghetto funk, but it makes its appearance all over electro funk, house and everywhere electronic.
If it’s not clear off the bat what I mean by lazer, just think the synth sound and blow it out to extravagant proportions. Something like our glam fucks. Really pierces the ears.
It’s bold. It’s fresh. It’s the best music to dance to right now – it’s rooted in disco for god’s sake.
We stopped featuring & playlisting remixes for the most part, bigger plans in the works, and cover songs have been even more scarce. Over the last few years we’ve collected a few dozen and finally we get to share our favorites with you! (it’s been a long time coming)
There were quite a few acoustic covers initially, but we wittled ’em down. Like remixes and dubstep, the world of acoustic covers is super saturated and with that comes us & our super powers to filter the shit out of ’em.
The original theme was fuck music that sounded like Flume, specifically his bombastic use of synth. That glamorous sound.
Future is what it’s being referred as right now, but I don’t like that title much. Even though I’ve used it before, it’s gonna sound stupid once it’s no longer the hype in electronic.
So in tribute, I thought I’d make something fun out of it. The title that is, with some word play.
