I’ve known Wick-it for making some superb mashups & bass’d out remixes, but creating shit from scratch is a whole new ball game. I’ve seen many cross the line from mashups to originals and it’s not usually pretty. But the Instigator puts down one pretty piece this time.
‘Grey Sky’ over takes Wick-it’s Weathermaker EP with a whole new level of strange bass. The jazz influenced, soul samples combined with that abstract bass is more than enough to praise, but slap down Heather Jones on the mic and her hymns bring this beyond praise.

Well, Figure’s ‘The Brink’ proves that wrong… kind of.
While I was in Israel I hadn’t listened to ‘The Brink’ in days, but on the very last day that catchy, grindy melody got stuck up in that head of mine, all damn day (along with the lyrics). Point is, ya can just as easily get a melody stuck in my head as ya can the lyrics… though, the lyrics sound a bit better when repeating it back to a friend ;)
[audio:The-Brink.mp3|titles=The Brink]Adventure Club is known for taking gorgeous vocals and wrapping ’em around their own style of dubstep, and just when I was growing a wee bit tired of it, they take on Yeah Yeah Yeahs ‘Maps’ with a varied charm. It may not have the affect of some of their first tracks I was introduced to, but it clearly shows a progression in their vocal cuts and the consistency in not needing the filthiest drops, yet still being as bass worthy as the rest.
We still gotta get these guys pairing up with original vocals more to carry ’em to the Next Level.

Mochipet is known for producing some next level bass music, but he’s also one to occasionally throw in some mashup freebies. And these freebies come in the tune of Too Short & Wiz Khalifa, which’ll sure as shit get yo heartbeat bouncin. But which one bounces best I gotta go with Too Short.

I guess these electro, dubstep remixes bring out the beauty in her voice and leave all the other shit to the wayside.
No Pets’ remix of “Part of Me” may not beat out the Coyote Kisses remix quite yet, but it’s still some healthy electro-dubstep that doesn’t over accentuate the drops and leaves the smooth bass to speak for itself. Now that I gotta stop hatin on Perry so much, I wonder if these dubsteppers will start remixing Ke$ha to my liking… nah.

Apashe, a Belgian artist, began his production career making ‘breakcore’ tracks. I’m not sure what exactly breakcore is, but that’s what he calls it. Anyway, he recently moved to Montreal and switched things up, producing his own breed of electro-dusbtep […]
[audio:http://silencenogood.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Swing-Your-Motha.mp3|titles=Swing Your Motha]To celebrate the season 2 premiere of Game of Thrones, Rameses B takes on the television show’s theme song and remixes it with such a calming vibe you wouldn’t believe it was dubstep, but it surely is.
What I can’t believe is that more epic shows like this haven’t used melodic dubstep in their scores. It creates such a rapturous feeling (or something like that) … they’ll catch on soon enough.

The up and coming Houston-based EDM producer combines the beauty of Skylar Grey‘s voice with some heavy bass and synths that takes the song to another level.

I do wish the quality was a bit fuller, but this mashup matched up too nice not to tell y’all about it.
Also, make sure to check out the video down below, great visuals set to the song.

ENiGMA made for one of the best dubstep remixes of 2011 with his remix of Afrojack & Steve Aoki’s “No Beef” and now he’s doin dirty on Nate Dogg Oh, hell yes!
“I Got Love” gets drumstepped on by ENiGMA and sounds fresher than ever. It’s actually the first time I think I get what the difference between drumstep & dubstep are. But it really doesn’t matter, I’m so damn sick of these subgenre’s, it’s all Bass Music to me.
