My ear for folk music is still in its prepubescent stages, but I try to drop a lil knowledge here & there. So here’s a lil here & there for ya…
Gaffner’s “On and On” reminds me of a song out of a Juno film, but that’s just me stereotyping it because I have nothing else to base it off of. It is, however, such a soothing song with well harmonized vocals […]

Love the vibes comin from Petty, plus we get those Bad Boy rhymes on top! Can’t say that I like Petty’s chorus tied in with the raps, but it’s still a solid rock out.
[audio:Mo-Fallin.mp3|titles=Mo Free Mo Fallin’ (Notorious B.I.G. // Tom Petty Mashup)]I’ve been obsessed with this little tune ever since Abi posted it. Now we get a remix from Beni with a nice lil bass number. Solid remix up until the end – gets a little weird (you’ll know when it hits). Otherwise, as enjoyable as the original.

Apparently, Grohl asked the guys to do this remix. Understandably, they’ve been doing some killer ones lately. I really should check the original, still wondering how it turned into this. (I think I’ll still be wondering)

With melodic vocal samples backed up by a simple piano loop, it’s making waves through the blogosphere, as well as my mind. The simplicity of the song makes it a haunting masterpiece. And the official video only adds to their painstakingly mysterious persona.

Robin Skouteris is one of the few mashers who has a strong focus on pop and still catches my interest. She does, however, for the most part pick artists I actually have some respect for – Gaga & Madonna. If you’re not into pop, these are still fun as hell to dance to, just make sure to get your dancin shoes on ;)

Their experimental style is hard to rap your head around, but once you get a hold on it, the shit is intoxicating. Sincerely a top group, not only on SoundCloud, but fo realz too.

In today’s feature, PL splits up 7 Zeppelin classics into one electro mashup. In parts, Pretty Lights shines, however, in others I feel like it could’ve been a bit more Zeppelin’d out. I love the grimey, electroness PL always has to offer, but Zeppelin had much more to offer this remix.
[audio:Pretty-Lights-Zeppelin.mp3|titles=Pretty Lights vs. Led Zeppelin]When Flight Facilities released their second solo track, “Foreign Language”, the duo made it very clear that their light and airy disco electronica is the next big thing. Believe me, I’m a girl who loves some fat and crunchy bass drops, but something about these Aussies resurfacing disco has got me all excited. Maybe it’s because I shop at American Apparel and drink Kombucha, or maybe it’s because I’ve been loving the jams featuring fresh female vocals lately, but regardless, I’m digging the feel-good 70s mood of this song, hard. However, it’s not just the song that’s got me blogging, it’s the bootleg video that’s surfaced on Youtube. […]
[audio:Foreign-Language.mp3|titles=Foreign Language (feat. Jess)]I’d like to think I’m a pretty equal opportunity listener when it comes to my iTunes. That’s why I was surprised when I was looking through new music and ended up going back and listening to this song a good 50 times more than any other “recently added” tune on the list.
