Now this is more like it. Had my qualms with Common’s last leak, “The Believer,” really, just because I have such high expectations for him. But now I think it’s just “Raw” is more of the flavor I love from Common and really has nothing to do with the actual quality in music. Whether or not I like “The Believer,” I sure have faith in what Common’s all about.
[audio:Raw.mp3|titles=Raw]Snoop & Khalifa are about to drop their Mac + Devin Go to Highschool soundtrack and the first single, “630,” just leaked. I’m vibin’ to it now and really startin to feel Khalifa’s flow (I know I’m late). Guess will have to wait till its full release tomorrow to see what’s up.
[audio:630.mp3|titles=630]Yeaaa, IanJ is stereotypical college boy rap. With lyrics that mean just about as much as a college actually educates you and a style that sounds so much like Mike Posner, I’m still wondering why I posted him. But where he has his setbacks, IanJ does have a few things going for him.
“Hang Over From You” has one killer beat to strobe along to with lyrics that are pretty damn catchy (can’t get the chorus out of my head). His voice is very Posneresque, but he’s got at least one ball hanging low […]

Watch out for this one coming on Big Z’s next mixtape, it’s gotta good start so far…
[audio:Diamonds-Remix.mp3|titles=Diamonds (Big Z Remix)]I love finding those remixes with rappers from wayyy back in the day that you haven’t listened to in a while. I completely forgot how big Eazy-E was an influence in getting me into hip-hop and, although, I’ve caught him here & there, it’s nice to see him remixed so fresh.
In Kombat & Pop The Hatch’s dubstep remix of “Creep N Crawl,” the two elegantly massacre Eazy-E (still wrappin my head around an “elegant massacre”). What I appreciate most is that they keep Eazy-E at center stage and never try to outstage him with the dubstep. The drops are dirtier than ever, but they still keep to the MUTHAFUCKIN E.
[audio:Creep-Crawl.mp3|titles=Creep N Crawl (Kombat & Pop The Hatch Remix)]Still surprised I haven’t gotten into Kahlifa more. I guess it’s just that need a remix situation and that remix is this. Whole-Z brings out Khalifa’s steady rap and vocal highs with synths that touch just right. Just shows the range Whole-Z puts on his remixes compared to his Edward Sharpe remix.

It’s a solid track with beautiful vocals and well written rhymes, but that’s nothing new for these two. Maybe it’s just my mood, I’ll listen to it later, but I’m not feelin it as much as I’d like. What do y’all think
[audio:The-Believer.mp3|titles=The Believer ft. John Legend]Panacea is back with a whole new album, Midnight Morning Africa, but we still got a ways to go ’til the 2012 release. Until then, Raw P & K-Murdock give us a tasty track for what’s to come, entitled “The Prelude.” The track isn’t off the album, but is more of a… well, prelude to it (I’m gonna call it a tease, though)

In his latest, Voodoo Farm throws in a barrage of heavy hitter MC’s from back in the day. From Biggie to 2Pac to Big L, each lies down for a few with the darling White Stripes gal, Meg. I don’t know if I’m feeling her as much as I’d like in this, but it’s a small price to pay for this behemoth of a track. Oh, and forget the MP3, the video is well worth the watch.

Even if you cloned DJ Shadow and went back in time, the album that has been both his calling card and the proverbial Albatross around his neck still sounds as groundbreaking today as it did 15 years ago.
Every artist worth talking about has their moment, that one perfect moment where their album strikes a chord with the world. Led Zeppelin had Led Zeppelin VI, Michael Jackson had Thriller, and Pink Floyd was one of the few bands that managed to do it twice, with Dark Side of the Moon and later, The Wall […]
