Yves Klein’s Look has a catchy little chorus. Something worth repeating at a club. Even the Lauren agrees. But it took Nam’pa to wrap it up nicely in a lazer y style of house. +The glistening electro bits is a nice sprinkle on top.
This is mostly tropical house music, but since the term has gone to shit since we put out our first trop house list, we simplified it with a little shout out to Cali.
Shit this is a fun one! I don’t know where James Curd got these vocals from, he won’t return my voicemails, but they make me smile every time.
I love what jacking is and the music it’s created. I’ll make a playlist sometime. Check out the documentary, Pump Up the Volume, if you don’t know what jacking is. It’s a very informative, long documentary about the origins of house music.
We didn’t really post any house music until a few years into the blog. For all I can tell Luminaire was our first and he’s still one of our favorite. Right now I’m thinkin the favorite.
The man finds the best vocals in disco and puts such heavy house in, that four on the floor kinda fashion. But it’s the small adjustments he makes to his music that makes it not sound so fuckin generic. Something many famous house producers need to recognize.
Luminaire has one of the healthiest collections of hits out there. And when he took down his SoundCloud, we got the honor of putting some of his best back up.
Another style of house we made up. I freakin’ love lasers! I first remember it in ghetto funk, but it makes its appearance all over electro funk, house and everywhere electronic.
If it’s not clear off the bat what I mean by lazer, just think the synth sound and blow it out to extravagant proportions. Something like our glam fucks. Really pierces the ears.
It’s bold. It’s fresh. It’s the best music to dance to right now – it’s rooted in disco for god’s sake.
We first found the horizontal disco name on Zimmer’s Galapagos. And although we categorized Galapagos under the tropical house playlist, Zimmer’s sound definitely circles around the theme we’re going for here. Malinchak, however, is the exact sound we think of.
Horizontal disco is meant for late night discoing on the floor and is on the lighter side of deep house. I just like relaxing to it late night though.
Like the iPhone every year, this is our best playlist yet! It really is.
House has been my obsession for the past few years and my favorite kind is the mid-tempo, upbeat summertime jams. Which may or may not turn out to be called Tropical House. Or Summer House. Or Horizontal Disco. It’s up in the air really.
A few tracks do stereotypically incorporate the steel drums, but we did cover more ground than that. We also decided this should be more comprehensive than our usual playlists because we wanted to get all the trop house personas in one place. There are quite a few interesting characters.
Looks like these Game of Throne remixes are keeping up with my taste in music. First with Rameses’ GoT dubstep remix back in 2012 and now with Steve Duzz’s 80’s disco theme.
It would’ve been nice if it played out for a little longer, but it’s a great reinterpretation of one epic theme song, especially with the fitting intro theme to accompany it.

I like what these house producers are doing with that cheesy 90’s R&B. Mainline Mussy pitches the vocals high on Avant’s original ‘Separated’ and throws in some Caribbean styled house for a fresh update. Or at least it will be until it’s as cliche as the original is now. Give it another 20 years.
One thing I’d cut out are the two interludes that split up the vocals. I’m here for the vocals, as always. The beats just here for fun steppin’.

I didn’t quite listen to the lyrics on Phonat’s ‘Never’ at first, it’s all about the sound at the start, but they’re my favorite thing about it now. The sound however is something to talk about, especially in Icarus’s version. We’re trying to lay off the remixes right now and save ’em for a collection, but Icarus speeds up the tempo and lays in some disco-house synths to livin’ this one up to where it’s needed.
