Adele · Someone Like You (Bassex Bootleg)

So good, yet, so-so.

Bassex has taken Adele’s “Someone Like You” and turned it into a hypnotic, tune-out track… well, up until the drop. Right when you’re getting lost in it, Bassex throws in a drop all too common among dubstep remixes, an over complicated bit that strays too far away from the original. Dubstep doesn’t need to rely on the dirtiest drops and Bassex’s Bootleg proves that. It’s such a beautiful remix with synths that build up Adele’s powervocals. The song should keep with the melodic and stay away from the chaotic.

Couldn’t agree with you more. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been immensly enjoying the ‘dubstep surge’ over the past two years like all of us, but I think (as exampled in this remix and others) many dubstep producers have yet to grasp the true potential of the genre for creating awe-inspiring music as opposed to stringing together complex beats and convulsing notes. Though some may disagree, dubstep is still in its early stages and I’m excited to see where it goes when this potential comes to light.

I, also, couldn’t agree more. This is a beautiful track until the chaos begins, then it’s another prosaic bit of dubstep.
Yawn. Come on producers, there has to be more to dubstep still to come.

Good to see that I’m not the only one who thinks this song is let down by the chaos! Other than, shall we say, the “wubwubs”, it’s beautiful imho. Doesn’t stop me listening though :D.

Gonna have to go w the flow and agree with all of you. i love the melodic groove then it just busts into something that doesnt flow at all….

I think one of the most perfect examples of really awesome dubstep done right is Revolvr’s Remix of You’ve Got The Love by Florence & The Machine. Has anyone heard it yet? Amazing.

Ooops I left out that I was speaking in terms of melodic dubstep. lol
