This took me sometime, but I’ve finally warmed up to London Grammar’s voice in ‘Help Me Lose My Mind.’ At first it reminded me too much of the female British vocal craze goin on, but London Grammar is of the few that finally broke through the mess of it all. The girl can really carry a note and Disclosure took full advantage.

While Mark Kinchen hasn’t completely changed up Storm Queen’s original, this ‘Look Right Through’ remix certainly improves on it. With a UK garaged-out sound, this tempo was certainly crafted for Storm Queen’s vocalist.

The EP’s cut up into five solid states (tracks), but other than the lead single the four others are simply meant for passive rather than active listening. The four others just aren’t supported with vocals like on ‘Take Over You,’ one’s that carry the song the whole way through rather than just becoming an instrument of it.

I haven’t heard the rest of Thundercat’s Apocalypse album yet, but I hope it keeps up the consistency that I heard on “Heartbreaks + Setbacks” & ‘Oh Sheit It’s X.’ Still in much demand for soulful vocals like Stephen “Thundercat” Brunner’s.
Apocalypse is set to release June 4. In the meantime, check out Thundercat’s catalogue.

This thing is an electro rock, bluesy bass beast, and more than anything it’s just nice to see Prince perform something so fresh. I’ve seen too much negative publicity around his dislike for remix & covers, so this is a nice turn around, though I’m sure there’s more to the story & this bad ass remake than we know right now. Still. Today, is a good day for music.

The Bobby C Sound TV EP is comprised mostly of rap & reggae funksters signed with that BCST carefree, lazer funk sound. If we only had more Ghetto Funk like Bobby on our radios this wouldn’t be such an underground gem. Spread it wide, people.

I keep on coming across tracks of his that spin catchy and yet I still haven’t gotten to posting any of them. The one thing I did finding missing were solid vocals, but his latest collab with Atlaas set that straight. So sit back and listen to two pounds of funk that have some serious breaks, but first something to get you warmed up, something much smoother.

The Long Road Ahead is a sticky-sweet track incorporating a beautiful combination of synth melodies, chopped vocals and harmonious piano chords. If you’re a disco enthusiast, an indie fan or just a lover of those chill grooves, Bit Funk should be on your radar for 2013.

UK Garage is nothing new on the scene, but the last months of 2012 were pretty explosive for the genre—classified by that funky 4/4 kick-drum rhythm and shuffling hi-hats—as. Disclosure, two teenage producers from Surrey (UK), have made their way onto major radio playlists, namely BBC Radio 1.
The two have been producing for quite a few years, but their big break out on the scene was late in 2012 with their smooth Garage hit ‘Latch.’ Disclosure wastes no time building a percussive intro, and dives right into a song driven strongly by the rhythm as well as its explosive and gorgeous vocals. I’m a sucker for some strong male vocals, and what I particularly love about the UK Garage genre is how heavily its vocals always pull from R&B influences. UK Garage has a tendency to be driven more by the percussive beat than the melody, but Disclosure’s ability to create a track that pushes those boundaries through more complex melodies really shows their potential to make their own distinctive mark on the genre […]
