This is one slick rick song. It’s got a lasso for a melody fused with all sorts of electro madness. And vocals are spot on with the beat. It’s actually got me seriously considering compiling a “songs to get in a gun fight to” — think it could work

The thing is, it’s not that easy for me to do a write up on a full album, it’s hard enough to do just a song. More importantly though, this is a band that’s so special to us. RPM’s second album, Pyramids in Moscow, was one of the main reasons this blog ever came about — it’s still one of our best finds!
So instead of halfassing a write up on Kingdom of Fireflies, I thought I’d just throw y’all a taste. ‘Catfish Blues’ is definitely the track that takes me back to what I originally loved most in RPM. Raw Poetic’s heavy flow always seems to flow smoothly on top these trip-tronic tracks.

But I didn’t write it to highlight the pop shenanigans LMFAO. This praise once again goes to a masher with an ear like no other, Ellipsis. You may be sick as shit of these not-so sexy vocals, but Ellipsis mashed it up with Gartner’s ‘Girl on Girl’ to a precision that I rarely hear. For all you mashup artists out there, this is a well synced song. Love the other samples thrown in there too, it’s a nice touch.

I have yet to compare this cover with its original, but this one got some gnarley bass. And Thank You for changing it up, CK, always nice to hear something so fresh.

Wolf in a remix of ‘Life Size Ghosts’ by Catching Flies. And where that was a hypnotic chill of Kate Sproule’s delicate voice, their cover of Usher’s ‘Climax’ is a straight-up delicacy, though still chilled.

Well, I may not have been the first to find ’em, but I’m like one of them. :P
Last Lynx’s ‘Killing Switch’ is a good tango between Robin & Fredric’s vocals with a pop beat for this emerging generation [electrofied]. I do wish they would’ve played out their vocies a little longer, seperately & especially together – it just feels cut short.

One thing that lives on from the past is their fiiine selection in vocalists. I don’t know many other musicians that consistently pair up with such pristine lady vocals.

The soft intro, a vocalist who could carry the beat & an electro funk sound that bounces almost better than the mau5 makes this something to more than just graze over. Definitely bounce worthy.

Electro music is known for its experimentation – now most well known in dubstep – but it’s still far from the cusp of its progression. Glitch bass may never reach the mainstream like its not too distant dubstep relative, but it’s a clear progression in [electro] sound, whether you can handle it or not.
My favorite of Aspect’s may just be another remix, if you’re one who looks down on those kinds of things, but I love it for bringing back Ace of Base’s oh-so classic ‘All That She Wants’ in a whole new flava.

It’s just the happiest, feel good shit that anyone could ask for. And with my latest love child, 95 Royale’s remix of ‘Lonely Nights,’ this funky bass kicks better than ever with disco filters galore. Tell me this doesn’t lift you up right from the start. Tell me!
