Someone get this man a voice. Laster can play a guitar well, surround it with a beat, but I doubt he sings or raps as well. Ya never know though.
His beats are both inspirational yet relaxing and his guitar melodies drive it all. I’ve noticed that with my favorite beat makers over the last few years. They know how to create a good melody on guitar: FKJ, Tom Misch, Josh J. The list goes on and some day I’ll make it.
I usually throw songs like his on a beats playlist, as I will for a few, but Laster’s consistency in good music far exceeds any of his kind. I just about blushed hearing a few of his guitar rifts.
Never have I ever (love that game) been so impressed by a mixtape’s intro than on Goldroom’s latest Verano mix. Not only is it a thrill of a chill track, but it’s so unexpected coming from Goldroom.
Creep Crawl Flash’s ‘At Bay’ reminds me of my earlier years with downtempo, especially our second beats to blaze [plug], and it’s good to get back to it. We need to start fishing out more music like this.. for mixtape purposes of course. Recommend!

All of which subtly use “baby” beautifully. They’re all good individually, but better as our baby trio.

Though I think it’ll be classic rock centered.

I know this isn’t the sax at least, or at least I’m pretty sure. I should have been a musician so I could have properly learned this musician mumbo jumbo, now I’m just in it purely for the sound.
Grifta’s ‘The Lost’ has got all the emotion I see with any brass infused track with a downtempo Nujabes like find. It’s still puzzling to me how much emotion brass instruments have over all others to me, something only vocals supersede. Can’t wait for Grifta’s next gift.

Once again, however, some vocals may have done another instrumental track some good (easier said than done, though).

I got this post wrapped up all nice & pretty because I wanted to spread out my nu-disco posts. And even though this may not fit the usual disco fold, it sure’s got that flavor. Traveler’s ‘Belafonte’ is a chilled down disco trip with samples that make the track (always do).

Eat More Cake’s remix of ‘Skirts’ takes these tease-filled vocals and accompanies them with a far more calming state of Electronica than its original. Which fits the vocals much better.

So when I saw Ninja Tune released a remix of ‘All in Forms,’ I might’ve been hesitant at first, but my intrigue kicked in quite quickly.
Letherette calms down the original ‘All in Forms’ for a remix on the smoother side of electro. This blog has shifted from the downtempo hip-hop//trip-hop//electronica styles to the EDM upbeat bangers before, but we’re always willing to switch back to chilled out soul like this.

But there’s no way I’m waiting ’til Sunday to release this smooooooooth tune, so just make it a lazy day whatever one it is. I’d also love to hear some smooth West Coast rhymes over it, but I doubt I could find any worthy … I’m way too picky when it comes to MC’s (and so should you!)
