Stuck on an Island by ¡MAYDAY! (Preview)

Mayday's payday comin' October 12.

I got a press advance of Stuck on an Island a few months back (so sweet), but held on to it for a while until closer to the release date.

I’ve been a big fan of ¡MAYDAY! since their self-titled release back in ’06. In fact, it was one of the reasons I created the site in the first place – they were my second post, right after DJ Frane. Since then I’ve been waiting for the next LP and it’s finally here – well, soon for y’all :p

So what do I think of the album I’m not going to get into it too much until it’s released on Oct. 12, but there are definitely a few stand out tracks. It may not be up to the standard of their first album – I’m always bias to […]

Evil & Technology by ¡MAYDAY!

"I'm a slave to evil"... and technology.

Mayday’s latest EP’s, Technology & The Thinnest Line, came out over a year ago, just a couple of months apart from each other. Although they may not stack up to their first album, each has at least one catchy single.

The Thinnest Line features a single titled “Evil” – although, I don’t have much to say about it, its lyrics are too true… no offense, ladies ;). “Technology”, on the other hand, reminds me of my past years in college. My roommates and I senior year had a running joke about how obsessed I was with technology. It reminded me of just a few of the stupid things we did back then. Good times. “Technology” may have some corny lines, “USB, you and me connect so desperately”, but the rest of it isn’t half bad. I mean how bad could it be, it’s about technology.

I still can’t decide which sound I like better of the two. What do y’all think I’m leaning more towards “Evil”, right now.

Mission Statement by ¡MAYDAY!

"And still they blast the blasphemy, they bask in it."

Banner of ¡MAYDAY!

In Chicago for the weekend, so I’m gonna make this short (gotta get wild soon). I posted Mayday’s self-titled album when the site was just starting off, and I had to give it another shout out (or at least one of its singles). This is one of my favorite beats along with some of my favorite flows, and I know most of y’all won’t go back to September ’09 in the blog, so I thought I’d do it for ya (it’s not me just being lazy, it’s a sick track/album). It’s short and sweet, and a good intro. to Mayday’s mission (statement).

Oh, and if you’re feelin’ this then follow us on Twitter, so you know when we post more sweet shyt (and so we know you like us).

¡Mayday! by ¡MAYDAY!

A holiday from horrible hip-hop.

Banner for Mayday

A couple months back I was searching through a bunch of, well… shit when I found this gem. From the first song I could tell I was hooked. With their hard-hitting sound, Mayday really pulls off a distinct hip-hop flavor.

Mission Statement: Never has a hip-hop album got it so right on the first track (I over embellish at times). From the first note it grabs your attention and pulls you in. It incorporate some unique instrumentals; but what sets Mayday apart is their ability to flow without missing a beat. This is why I love Mission Statement so much!… along with Macro/Micro… and really most of their songs. :)
