Nothing is better to dance to right now than this style of electronic music. I thought electro funk sounded fitting as a title, but it’s more commonly known simply as electro and to some extreme electro house and bass music. Though this naming shit is getting outta hand, as necessary as it is.
The sound actually sounds like something between disco-house & bass music, but more experimental than the former and more soulful than the latter. It gets a little strange at times, but that’s exactly what dance music needs right now.
I usually try to wait at least a week before featuring something new, I’ve got good reason, but when two of my favorite sounds team up, officially or not, I can’t help but celebrate prematurely. Time will tell (about a week) if this is a keeper.

Even most good artists fall off after a few good hits, but Odesza is on their way to making the next stage in dance music. At least in my ears. But that’s more about their sound, lyrics is a different story.
I’m never one to pay too close attention to lyrics, I usually make up my own. And that’s exactly what I’ve done with Odesza’s latest, ‘Sun Models.’ Let me know what you think the chorus is singing and I’ll let you know what I made up, but my version is really just a well popularized phrase of three words. Odesza’s music, however, pictures it in a new light… even though they’re not even the right words.

This duo has the future of electro dance down.

What makes it so bad is a progressive crackling and off beat sound that becomes almost unbearable to the point of a trip gone bad: nothing made sense. But what I’m realizing more and more over these working so closely with music is, vocals really do carry the piece. And just when the true feel of ‘Above the Middle’ kicks in at 1:18, all the nonsense fades away… well, the the vocals do a good job of covering it up.
