Each year we put together a playlist of our favorites that are performing at Outside Lands, but we got bored of that this year. So we decided on putting together a bunch of Kanye mashups & remixes instead, ’cause Kanye would want it that way. Except them being remixes maybe.
A little disclaimer. For the most part, don’t take these too seriously, especially the first one. Some of the tracks even fall outta sync at times, but each has their moment.
Just prepare yourself with these “unofficial Kanye collaborations” and hope he debuts his official one with Disclosure this Friday at OSL. It could happen. It should happen.
#3 is the best, by the way.
Voodoo Farm is my main man for those raunchy dubstep remixes and now we get ’em all packed up neat in his official VOODOO FARM REMIXTAPE. With newly-mastered versions of 15 remixes + 7 unreleased ones, you’d think we have some new shit to romp around to for at least a few weeks, but the only way it falls short is in bringing anything fresh.
Voodoo’s included all the remixes that made him so special to me, but all the new shit is small compared to this behemoth of a mixtape. Still, this is a collection definitely worth keeping.

She’s a got an Ellie Goulding charm to her that floats above well with this bass-wizard. If these two don’t pair up for at least one official single, it’ll be at a loss to our ears and these two extremely talented individuals.
[audio:DRVGS.mp3|titles=DRVGS]I’m a little hesitant with producers that I’ve only known for remixes start up their own original works, but VOODOO sure as hell upped his game on this. With one catchy verse and electro juice a flowin, “Smoke That Fool” is a good taste of what’s to come on VOODOO FARM’s first LP, The Weird Circle, expected to drop in March. Truly excited to hear what’s next!

Many don’t believe, for good reason, that dubstep should be destroying such nostalgic tunes, but I have different beliefs.
Voodoo Farm’s tirade on “A Day in the Life” isn’t meant to do anything for the original fans of the track (I wouldn’t try to understand electro either if I was 50). But what dubstep remixes are trying to do, as well as many other types of remixes, is to bring our favorites from back in the day and turn them on to new sounds. Like it or not, it’s all for the love & appreciation of their originals, so no hatin’ on love (unless it does actually suck).

Or maybe it’s just I’m obsessed with these beauts mixed with dirty, dirtay dubstep. Either way, this style has ruled SNG for the last half of the year and hope it rules for many months into next.

In his latest, Voodoo Farm throws in a barrage of heavy hitter MC’s from back in the day. From Biggie to 2Pac to Big L, each lies down for a few with the darling White Stripes gal, Meg. I don’t know if I’m feeling her as much as I’d like in this, but it’s a small price to pay for this behemoth of a track. Oh, and forget the MP3, the video is well worth the watch.

Until I can get a SoundKlout feature on him, here’s another one of my favorites of his.
Voodoo’s remix of “Wheelz of Steel” takes these Dirty South Stars and drops the usual dubstep // glitch combo on ’em. But unlike the usual, Voodoo doesn’t overdue the drops and has a nice balance of the highs & lows.

Not only is the bass placed & tuned perfect, but Jay & Yeezy’s lyrics are brought out harder than any other remix has – or the original did. I’ll be bumbin this for daysssss.
