I saw Kali Uchis late 2017 at The New Parish and my first thought was my girlfriend would love her. I wanted to surprise her with tickets to her show at The Fox just after Valentine’s Day, but it seems like she needs more convincing on how good she is.
I haven’t seen a catalog this deep on SoundCloud ever (Duckwrth is second best). One song after the other, even the shittiest recordings had that whisper in her voice that makes her sound so special. She’s the first artist that’s ever made me appreciate someone singing another language so much.
I think that’s what more Americans need to start appreciating other languages being sung. Bi-lingual singers to show there’s no language line with good music.
The first playlists on Silence for the first few years were all best of year. In 2014, it turned into focusing on best of genres. Over the past year, I’ve tried to be more creative about it.
This list is really just remixes of famous songs in a groovy house kind of way. But not titling it so specifically allowed me to broaden the song selection, which made room for more fun things to dance to.
Last year we had five playlists highlighting our favorite remixes called, Remixed Right, but we decided this year to split them into themes. First up comes our chill hip hop remixes.
This is purely mainstream hits remixed. 50/50 on good rap vs not so good, but the remixes do their job. Making shit sound good (to relax to).
Snoop Dogg’s Stoner’s EP just got released, and although I haven’t listened to the whole EP, I did listen to 1 track. “Breathe It In” may just be the usual ode to the kush from Snoop, but that beat is sure as hell new to the Doggg.
Lazer Crunk is an odd set of electro sounds gon estranged, but who knows if ‘Breathe It In’ could be classified under it, these subgenres are killing me. Whatever it may be, Snoop rolls around in it so smooooothly.

I had no idea who it was at the time, Snoop like too many other SoundClouders didn’t put up the info, but I finally dug it up. What a smooth jazzy, downtempo piece that’s perfect for a good morning sesh. Best way to start your day!

I’m vibin’ to it now and really startin to feel Khalifa’s flow (I know I’m late). Guess will have to wait till its full release tomorrow to see what’s up.
