Finally, we’re introduced to the first single off Chiddy Bang’s long awaited debut album, Breakfast. “Ray Charles” is a fresh look at this Philly duo, which features a soulful piano riff with well sampled R&B backups. But the best thing has got to be those Chiddy flows. I’ll give 50% to Xaphoon, but I haven’t heard Chiddy sound so fresh since The Preview.
Check out what Chiddy had to say about coming up with the lyrics:
“The song actually started out as a joke when my brother, Cheeseburger Don, got so high he fell asleep in the studio with his sunglasses on. I looked over and he reminded me of Ray Charles, probably because I was high, too. I started freestyling about him and we laid it down right there.”
Breakfast is set to release February 28 of next year. I was a lil bit excited for Breakfast, now I’m alotta bit.
