DLG’s summer 2012 sampler sports all sorts of disco, funk and grimey lazer. Two of the tracks feature classic soulful vocals from… god knows who, since these darn SoundClouders never credit their singers, but they’re lovely as hell nonetheless. Can’t say this is worth the $7.47 price tag, but the amount of funk-filled disco is well worth a single purchase, if not a rockout stream to the whole damn thang.

But what really gets me is at that glorious chorus provided by Fun… hits new heights in this remix.

Let’s just say if they’re in-house, I’ll go out and make a freakin’ label centered right around it (I’ll do it!).
Like my previous love of theirs, “Missing You” captures the energy of the 70’s and hurls it right in my millennium riddled ears. But the best part is that catchy 4-line chorus – if there were any more words, it would do this song injustice.

Make sure to also check out the ‘Brightside’ music video, it’s as cheesy as it is sick.as.fuck. (so super cheesy)

[soundcloud url="http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/43289696" params="player_type=tiny&font=Arial&color=292929" height="18"]I was sure as hell certain that this was a remix from the first time I listened to it. The vocals seemed too damn familiar, like an R&B track from the late 90’s, but there was no indication that this wasn’t their work. But every time I listened to it, I just knew it wasn’t. So thanks to Google, I finally found out that this is in fact a remix of Wayne Wonder’s “No Letting Go” … and now I feel like a jackass for not knowing that.
Too many SoundClouders don’t put down the proper information for a track they post. For whatever reason, copyright or otherwise, it gets to be a pain in the ass for people like me to hunt down the information, let alone even know it’s a remix. To be fair, it’s not that hard to ask or figure it out, but why make it more complicated than it has to be…
[audio:Got-Somebody.mp3|titles=Got Somebody]A nu-disco Trak with Kimbra & Mark Foster on backups, now that’s a get together. I haven’t heard much from Kimbra before, minus her song with Gotye, but she really shines with that fresh A-trak beat. She’s got a hint of pop flavor, but with a sass that doesn’t sound as manufactured as, say, Katy Perry. Plus, that Foster support isn’t hurting her cause.
