Madeaux · Song #2

oo, that melody!

Madeaux presents another twisted tune with pretty piano playin on top and Ray J samples. I’ll let Madeaux explain why it’s called “Song #2″…

I wanted to give you a little background into this song because I feel like it’s fun when you can connect with the music you listen to on multiple levels. I wrote this song for my girlfriend a long time ago but I never finished it. Whenever we would talk and I’d tell her about new stuff I was working on she’d always ask “What about song #2” When I had sent her the song awhile back I just titled the mp3 song #2 because I had no concrete titles thought up yet. What I want to ask of all you listening is, what would you call this song What does it make you think of Post what you think in the comments below. I’d love to know your ideas.

So you’re still with the girlfriend I guess “Loved You” wouldn’t make her too happy.

Frank Ocean · White

+ a nice, little refix from Kief Ledger

Frank continues to push out a story that’s on a whole ‘nother level than any other R&B today and is “frankly” only of a few I actually care to listen to. His sound in “White” is smoothly still and the beat carries the same. Like always, Ocean makes me wanna tear up every time I listen to him, in a good way.

Bill Withers · Just the Two of Us (LNTG Rework)

Bringing back probably my favorite soulful vocals in the downtempo beaut

Even more than Earth, Wind & Fire or Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers is my go to guy for all things soulster. So if we get any half decent rework of his, you know I’m gonna be all over it.

LNTG’s rework, now that I think about it, starts off a lot live Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” and slowly works its way into Wither’s classic “Just the Two of Us” vocals. It does take a bit to get into the good stuff, like too many downtempo tracks, but once you’re in, it’s pure suaveness from the man himself – whom I still gotta give most the credit to for this rework, those vocals are on a level like no other.

Whitney Houston · How Will I Know (Acapella)

There's just no better way to remember her.

There’s no better way to remember what Whitney Houston’s done for us and what we’ll remember her by than with a beautiful acapella of her song, “How Will I Know,” leaving her voice alone & unadulterated. I don’t know of many singers who sound this good by themselves, but I know this is just as amazing as any with instrumentals added. <3 missed View Full Article »

The Hood Internet · Some Creeps (Mashup)

TLC & Michael McD... this should be interesting.

Love reviving those 90’s female vocals and TLC has got to be the cream of the crop. But when I saw Michael McDonald was mashed in here, that’s when I fell hard. The problem is that McD wasn’t placed all that well in here and didn’t get his fair share of play time. I do love how they included him, though – not enough of mashers are going back to the soulful 70’s.

Michael Francis · Pony 2012 (Ginuwine Cover)

Produced by Cito On The Beat

Michael Francis definitely does a decent job at covering Ginuwine’s classic seduction, “Pony,” but I gotta give it to Cito On The Beat for being… on the beat. Cito takes this 90’s classic and makes it up into today’s electro-bass, dubstyle’d scene.

Could definitely see some producer taking this to the next level dubstep, hit me up if you do ;)

The Weeknd · Same Old Song (Remix)

Paper Diamond throws in some bass with attitude

Paper Diamond hops on as another Weeknd remixer and remakes “Same Old Song” with finely cut bass that rolls over those signature Weeknd vocals. Wasn’t all that much of a fan of the original, but Paper Diamond throws in that mind-numbing bass that gets me every.damn.time.

JAYBeatz · Dirty Diana (Mashup)

featuring The Weeknd & Michael Jackson

Any Weeknd mixer/masher should be all over this. Combining an artist with potential that hasn’t been seen since MJ, as well as the legend himself, makes for one dirty mashup.

JAYBeatz is the first on deck with a “Dirty Diana” collision that carries the two well, but doesn’t live up to what I’d think combining these two would bring. At times, I can barely tell MJ from The Weeknd, JAYBeatz plays off the two nicely, but also doesn’t bring anything spine-tingling to the mix, like his Weeknd/Drake mash. Still like the direction and the ideas he’s bringing, can’t wait for more.
