Geto Boys · Damn It Feels Good (Remix)

One gangsta ass remix by Bobby C Sound TV

Bobby C is know around here for his television ghetto wobblin’ and now he’s up to no good on a classic hip-hop soundtrack. If you haven’t heard the Geto Boy’s “Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta” or the movie that made it so popular, Office Space, then what the shit kinda movies have you been watching all these years Either way, his upbeat, ghetto funk rendition of this gangsta ass beat is a hell of a romper.

Sebastien Tellier · Divine (Zeds Dead ReRemix)

· · · · · · · · · · · · · Original remix by Danger · · · · · · · · · · · · ·

Zeds Dead has already pumped out one Adrenaline filled EP, but now they throw us a reremix of Dangers’ remix of Sebastien Tellier’s “Divine” (get all that). Never heard Tellier before, but his voice reminds me of a Beatle at times… I’m thinking Paul

Kraddy · Forbidden (Minnesota Remix)

Couldn't ask for a better man to remix a better song

I don’t know if I can stray away from the original just yet, but I couldn’t deny myself a Minnesota remix of my favorite Kraddy track. Minnesota does his usual blissful synths coupled with hypnotizing bass buzzers, which plays wells with Erica Dee’s sultry vocals. Couldn’t ask for a better man to remix a better song! <3 View Full Article »

Dr. Dre · Still California (Wick-it Moombahton Remix)

Now the Instigator's goin Moomba with a Dre mix&mash, niice.

Wick-it’s already proved himself in the mashups and dubstep, but now he brings us a Dr. Dre Moombahton remix. “Still California” pits two Dre classics together, “Still Dre” & “California Love,” for a bouncy, electro-bass ride. This is what I love about Wick-it, he isn’t scared to switch up his forte.

Young Jeezy · I Do (Sammy Bananas Bootleg)

This is so much better than the Jeezy title gives it.

Don’t let the Young Jeezy throw you off, this is nothing like the original, cept for the Jeezy of course. Sammy Bananas bootleg gets my heart beat pumpin with a remix that takes Young Jeezy back to the days of disco-funk with a Progressive House style. I’d consider this more of a sampling of Young Jeezy than an actual bootleg/remix, but it’s all the same shit when it comes down to it.

NastyNasty · Acid Hangover

It's more for the trip than the hangover.

NastyNasty’s “Acid Hangover” is one romp around some strange ass sounds. Apparently, he created this after riding his cruiser bike around an abandoned San Joe while on Acid – sounds about right to me. It’s like nothing I’ve ever heard before, which is exactly why I like it. Maybe throw in some Bay Area raps and this would have San Fran music written all over it.

Also, just wondering – is it me or does this have that “Nookie” drum pattern at the start

Zee Avi · Concrete Wall (RAC Mix)

I just about instantly fell in love with this

Favorite track of 2012, so far. Yea, we’re only a month in, but I find something fresh in this every.damn.time I listen to it. I’d confuse this for the original because of how good it is, but RAC gets so electro weird on it that it goes far beyond any original’s experimentation limit.

VOODOO FARM · Smoke That Fool

The big step from remix to original work, but does he pull it off?

I’m a little hesitant with producers that I’ve only known for remixes start up their own original works, but VOODOO sure as hell upped his game on this. With one catchy verse and electro juice a flowin, “Smoke That Fool” is a good taste of what’s to come on VOODOO FARM’s first LP, The Weird Circle, expected to drop in March. Truly excited to hear what’s next!

Wolfgang Gartner · There And Back

Only a few that can pull it off like this.

There’s really not many electro producers who can go without vocals and pull it off. Tracks tend to get monotonous without at least a little vocal sampling thrown in (unless they have a killer melody). That said, Wolfgang Gartner pulls it off quite well.

In his latest beast, “There And Back” is six minutes of fist pumpin glory. It does go a bit long for my idle worship, but put me in a club setting and I’ll get lost in it for days.

Daft Punk · Technologic (Scary Toys Remix)

The nerdman's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger."

I wasn’t into the whole techno scene back in ’05, but I sure as hell remember Daft Punk’s “Technologic.” I may not have appreciated it that much back when, but I loved the flow of the words.

In Scary Toys remix of the “Tecnologic” classic, the bass buzzer goes nice with Daft Punks witty little one liners. Love the choice they made & the style they presented it.
