MitiS · Written Emotions

There's just nothing quite like soul inspiring dubstep.

“Written Emotions” by MitiS is more melodic dubstep to add to the collection. With a bass to coast off of and some fine placed synths to bring us ever higher, this a perfect tune to reminisce to. If you’re feelin this, make sure to check out Blackmill, as well.

JMSN · Alone (Kno Remix)

Could even give The Weeknd a run for his money

First thing that hooked in my head were JMSN’s ghostly highs similar to The Weeknd. Dude’s got quite an angelic voice and with this supporting remix by Kno, it makes his vocals all the more elegant & neo-soulfulish.

WZRD · Brake

Kid Cudi & Do da Genius's mind-bending electro-rock

WZRD is Cudi’s next step, bringing in Dot Da Genius and forming an electro-intoxicating rock duo. Their first single, “Brake,” still has some of the old Cudi, but with a whole lotta new. Whether you like their psychedelic rap-rock or not, Cudi’s flow is still on that mind-numbing, next level shyt. And this is just the start – can’t wait for what’s to come (early) next year.

DJ Bahler · Crystal Hearts

Childish Gambino + Midnight Conspiracy + Crystal Castles + Health

Gambino may back up his raps with pristine beats, but Bahler brings on a whole new perspective to his Childish words. In this mash, Gambino’s “Heartbeat” gets a disco fresh take with beats sampled from Midnight Conspiracy’s remix of “Crimewave,” originally by Crystal Castles & HEALTH. Definitely an upbeat, dance worthy hell of a time!

Metallica & Black Sabbath · Disposable War Pigs

· · · · · · · · · · · · · · · A Celldweller Klash-Up · · · · · · · · · · · · · · ·

Klashin up Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica with dubstep breaks all around was just meant to be. I’ve always thought dubstep was made for heavy metal, as I’m sure many others have, and although it’s only getting play in the mashup/remix art, right now, it’s slowly creeping into the mainstream.

Alex Clare · Caroline

The next Tracy Chapman (and I'm only half kidding)

The blogs have been buzzin about Alex Clare’s soulful seduction. He reminds me of an up-to-date Tracy Chapman that’s British.. and male… and ginger ;) I can’t quite pinpoint why, yet – I think it’s that punch-like soul. Whatever it is, this style is in need of a revival and Clare fits the bill. He’s gonna be a huge hit, you wait and see –

Childish Gambino ·· Camp

"Can I stay at your place? No Hobo."

Gambino’s words on Camp are witty as ever, but this dude is a damn wit pro.fession.al, so whatever, nothin to spout off about there. The biggest change I see in Gambino’s Camp over his last few mixtapes is the production and fuckin fab.u.loso vocals.

Production is definitely the most surprising aspect to this album. With all of Gambino’s past work, I thought of it as just a fun side project to his “real” work (comedy). Now that I see his dedication with production and bringing in other acts to support him, I see it’s more than just […]

The Lonely Island · 3-Way (Bobby C Sound TV Rmx)

featuring Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga

Not only can Bobby C funk out some of my favorite classic rap tracks (check it), but he also puts a fiine ghetto funk spin to some funny ass comedic bits. This time round he puts it on one of The Lonely Island’s best bits, “it’s not gay, when it’s in a 3-way.” Funny & Funky = good times.

If you’re diggin this, make sure to check his remix of Flight of the Conchords’ “Sugar Lumps.”

Eminem · Lose Yourself Till I Collapse Patiently Waiting (Fytch & Jaysty)

A mashup with the longest damn title in the whole freakin' world!

Other than this being the longest damn name and barely fitting on this post, Fytch & Jaysty’s “Lose Yourself Till I Collapse Patiently Waiting” is a healthy dubstep wrangler with ever higher-state synths. And as much as I can’t find any clear criticisms, I still feel like something needs tweaking. I have a feeling it’s to do with those synthy snths, but who knows. See for yourself.

Chiddy Bang · Ray Charles

I was a lil bit excited for Breakfast, now I'm alotta bit.

Finally, we’re introduced to the first single off Chiddy Bang’s long awaited debut album, Breakfast. “Ray Charles” is a fresh look at this Philly duo, which features a soulful piano riff with well sampled R&B backups. But the best thing has got to be those Chiddy flows. I’ll give 50% to Xaphoon, but I haven’t heard Chiddy sound so fresh since The Preview […]
